Pleurothallids

Many of these fall into the group that the late Dr. Ben Berliner would run over with a lawnmower. However, for those of us who can appreciate these exotic beauties, this is a fascinating world. Most require moist humid conditions on the cooler side of intermediate with good air movement to prevent fungal proliferation. Once proper conditions are established the plants grow quickly and flower freely. Many are sequential bloomers so can be in bloom for many months. Not all the flowers are miniscule: nor are all the plants small. Most can be grown into specimen size in a reasonable space.

This is worth growing just for the lovely heart shaped leaves. Red flowers in the center always seem to be there.

Pleurothallis restrepioides'Dragonstone'

Arching stems of 2cm spotted bells. Grows under a variety of conditions but blooms best if given slightly cooler temperatures.
